Providing a Place Where Seniors Can Thrive

Aprendemos muchas cosas.”

“Being a member of Centro de Oro from Ibero has helped improve my health mentally as well as physically. I enjoy both the exercise lessons and the visitors who come to teach us in nutrition and many other topics. I also enjoy and treasure socializing with others since it has helped me cope with depression.”

2022-2023 Highlights

  • Centro de Oro continues to be the only culturally relevant Latino, monolingual in Spanish, senior center. Despite the lower attendance rate across other senior centers in Monroe County, continues to thrive with great interest and needs.
  • A new full time Coordinator and a part-time Kitchen Assistant were hired which have served to enrich our unique growing program needs in the Latino community.
  • At least 20% of our active members at Centro de Oro live alone. It is proven that seniors eat healthier when they have companionship.
  • A total of 1,800 recreational activities including field trips, cultural games, wellness programs, and events were enjoyed by them in the last year!
