Centro Civico celebrates retirement of CEO Ladan Alomar

CENTRO CIVICO CELEBRATES RETIREMENT OF LONG-STANDING C.E.O. AT ANNUAL GALA, RECOGNIZES SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS AND INDIVIDUALS FOR CONTRIBUTIONS.

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. – Centro Civico will be celebrating the retirement of CEO Ladan Alomar at their annual gala on November 1. Alomar has worked for the agency for 30 years, including 25 years as CEO beginning in 1994. The evening event will also recognize several high school scholarship recipients as well as awarding individuals for their contributions to the local Latino community.

Alomar began her career at Centro Civico in 1989 as a student-family counselor aimed at reducing high school dropout rates. She soon became the director of her program and later became the deputy director of the agency in 1991. After displaying several years of leadership in her role, the board of directors named Alomar as CEO in 1994.

“When I began working here as a student-family counselor, I never imagined I would become CEO of this wonderful organization,” said Alomar. “It has been a privilege to serve the community through this agency for 25 years.”

“After 30 years of dedicated service as CEO, Ladan will be greatly missed,” said board chair of Centro Civico, Roberto Ochoa. “We will never forget her passion for empowering families and community members to overcome the challenges society has placed in front of them. Through her leadership & the dedication of the hard working staff at Centro Civico the world & the future for so many has become brighter for generations to come.”
